So, you've received a nomination from the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)—congratulations! This is a huge step on your journey to Canadian permanent residence. But what happens next? Here's a quick guide:

1. For EOI Applicants

Receiving an OINP nomination is not the end. You must then submit a formal application for permanent residence through My Ontario Account. Take note that your new application number is different from your EOI number. The application must be submitted within 14 calendar days from the date of receiving the invitation.

Here is a general outline of Ontario immigration stream fees:

Flat Rate: $1,500

Applies to: Masters Graduates, PhD Graduates, Employer Job Offer: International Students, and Physicians applying under the Foreign Worker stream (no job offer required)

Location-Based Fees

For Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker and In-Demand Skills streams:

$1,500 → Job is outside Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

$2,000 → Job is located in the GTA (Toronto + Durham, Halton, York, Peel areas)

2. If You're in the Express Entry Pool

Did you apply under an Express Entry stream? Here's what happens:

Once you receive the NOI in your IRCC account, you have 45 calendar days to apply through the OINP - My Ontario account. This will give you an additional 600 CRS points, which effectively guarantees you an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in the next PNP draw. The application fee is $1,500 and is separate from the Federal application fee and RPRF (Right of Permanent Residence Fee).

Take note that you must have a valid Express Entry profile pending the PNP Draw. Once you get the ITA, you have 60 days to submit your full application to IRCC. Don't forget to attach your OINP nomination letter!

3. Need More Time or a Profile Update?

Life happens. If your Express Entry profile expires or you need more time, you can request an extension of your nomination certificate or transfer it to a new profile. Just follow OINP’s instructions and provide the required documents.

Final Note: An Ontario nomination is an important step, but organization is the key. Meet deadlines, keep your paperwork in line, and stay committed to your Ontario plan. With careful follow-through, you'll be well on your way to calling Canada home. Questions? Always consult IRCC or OINP official sources—they're your best bet!
