Though the processing time for PGWP can vary depending upon several factors, however the processing time for a completed application is being shown as 117 days as of today, Feb 23rd,2025. Online applications submitted for PGWP from within Canada are typically processed faster than paper-based applications.
Your processing time starts the day the IRCC receives your complete application and ends when a decision is made on your application. It also depends on how many applications IRCC receives or if your application is complex.
The applications may be delayed or returned if it’s not complete.
Here is a list of a few of the factors that can affect the processing time including:
- the type of application submitted
- if the application is complete
- how quickly IRCC processes applications that it already received
- how easily IRCC can verify your information
- how long you take to respond to any request or concerns
- other factors
While waiting for your PGWP application to be processed, if you applied with a valid study permit you may be eligible to work full-time without a work permit. This is contingent upon meeting specific criteria, such as having completed your program of study, maintained full-time status as a student in Canada during each semester of your study program with some exceptions to this requirement.
For the most current and up-to-date information always check IRCC official website or consult with a qualified immigration consultant.
