For skilled foreign workers and international graduates from Canadian institutes who wish to live and work in one of Canada's four Atlantic provinces—New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, or Newfoundland and Labrador—the Atlantic Immigration Program offers a route to permanent residency.
For positions they haven't been able to fill locally, the program assists employers in hiring skilled workers.
You must receive a job offer from a designated employer in Atlantic Canada to participate in the program.
You must be either
- a recent graduate of a recognized post-secondary institution in Atlantic Canada or
- a skilled worker
You can be living abroad or in Canada as a temporary resident.
To be eligible for the Atlantic Immigration Program, you must
- Have relevant work experience, unless you are an international graduate of an Atlantic Canada-recognized post-secondary institution.
- Meet or exceed the educational prerequisites
- Meet or exceed the language requirements
- Demonstrate that you have enough money to sustain yourself and your family after you arrive in Canada
You don't need to show proof if you currently reside and work in Canada with a valid work permit.
If you meet all of these requirements, you can start looking for a job with a designated Atlantic employer.
Note: None of the above statements are legal advice and are not meant to be the same for everyone. You must check the latest policy from the IRCC website before applying. Everything is stated clearly on the official website, still if you don't understand something, you can seek legal advice.
