If you are currently living in Alberta, working full-time, and have a full-time job offer from an Alberta employer in an eligible occupation, you may qualify for permanent residency under the Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS).
The AOS is a provincial immigration program under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). It allows foreign workers living and working in Alberta to apply for permanent residency if they meet specific eligibility requirements.
Candidates must have a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or hold an accepted LMIA-exempt work permit. They must also meet other eligibility criteria related to residency, work permit type, occupation, language, education, job offer, and work experience.
Eligibility Requirements:
-
Have a valid work permit (not based on self-employment).
-
Be working in an eligible occupation in Alberta.
-
Meet language requirements (CLB 4-5, depending on occupation).
-
Have completed at least high school education (equivalent to Canadian standards).
-
Have a minimum of 12 months of full-time work experience in Alberta within the last 18 months.
Candidates applying under this category should apply on their own using the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program portal.
