A designated learning institution (DLI) is a school approved by a provincial or territorial government to host international students studying programs for over six months. All primary and secondary schools in Canada are recognized as DLI.
Before applying for a study permit, you must provide a letter of acceptance (LOA) from a designated learning institution (DLI). Your study permit application will be refused if your letter of acceptance (LOA) is not from a DLI.
To get a post-graduation work permit, you must graduate from a PGWP-eligible designated learning institution and meet all other criteria listed on the IRCC website.
