The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is an immigration program under the Express Entry system designed for skilled workers in Canada who wish to become permanent residents.

Eligibility Requirements for the Canadian Experience Class

1. Work Experience

To qualify, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Have at least 12 months (1,560 hours) of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience in Canada within the last three years before applying.
  • Work experience must fall under National Occupational Classification (NOC) TEER categories 0, 1, 2, or 3 and must have been obtained with proper authorization.
  • The work must be paid employment (salary or commission). Volunteer work and unpaid internships do not count toward eligibility.
  • Job duties must closely match those outlined in the lead statement of the NOC job description.

2. Minimum Language Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in English or French through an approved language test, meeting the following minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) levels:

  • TEER 0 or 1: CLB 7 (English) or NCLC 7 (French)
  • TEER 2 or 3: CLB 5 (English) or NCLC 5 (French)

3. Education & Proof of Funds

  • There is no minimum education requirement for CEC. However, candidates can earn additional points for their educational background under Express Entry.
  • Proof of funds is not required for CEC applicants, as they are already working in Canada.

Important Considerations

  • Candidates must intend to live outside the province of Quebec, as Quebec has its own immigration pathways for skilled workers.
  • The CEC is one of the fastest routes to permanent residency, making it an ideal choice for individuals with Canadian work experience.

Although everything is clearly stated on the official website, you may want to seek legal advice if you have any questions or concerns.
