For skilled professionals looking to immigrate to Canada, the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and the Saskatchewan Express Entry SINP stream offer two distinct pathways. While both are linked to Express Entry, they have different eligibility requirements and benefits.

Key Differences

  • Work Experience:
    • FSWP: 1 year continuous in the last 10 years (TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupations).
    • SINP: 1 year in the past 10 years (non-trades) or 2 years in the past 5 years (trades) in an eligible occupation.
  • Occupation List:
    • FSWP: Any TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation.
    • SINP: Only occupations on the SINP In-Demand List (some jobs are ineligible).

Points System & Selection

  • FSWP: Candidates need 67 points on the FSWP selection grid and compete in Express Entry draws based on their CRS score.
  • SINP: Candidates require 60 points on SINP’s system and must receive a provincial nomination before applying for PR.
  • Provincial Nomination Advantage: SINP nomination gives 600 extra CRS points, making it easier to receive an ITA for permanent residence.

Processing Time

  • FSWP: Express Entry PR processing takes about 6 months after receiving an ITA.
  • SINP: Requires provincial nomination first, adding several months before PR application.

Conclusion

  • FSWP is ideal for candidates with a high CRS score and flexibility to live anywhere in Canada.
  • SINP is better for those with an eligible in-demand occupation and needing a CRS boost through nomination.

Choosing the right stream depends on work experience, CRS score, and willingness to settle in Saskatchewan.
