IRCC has annouced recent changes in eligibility for Spousal Open Work Permit specifically for spouses on Students. These are major changes that would impact the choice of Programs, Colleges that prospective students would prefer. 

As a brief it can be said that SOWP would be given to spouses or common Law partners if their partner is studying in master or Doctorate programs or professional degree.
