Visitor visas can have two types of entry.
- · multiple entry and
- · single entry.
All are generally considered to be granted a multiple entry visa initially.
A single-entry visa may be issued for the following cases mostly:
- · If the applicant is eligible for a fee-exemption and where the purpose of entry to Canada is limited (for example, for an official visit by a foreign national);
- · If the applicant is participating in a one-time special event in Canada
- · If there is any country-specific (from where the applicant is applying) procedures or guidelines are in place and approved by IRCC.
But the main catch is in the staying duration withing Canada. Whether you are granted multiple entry or single entry, you can stay in Canada for a maximum period of 6 months as a visitor unless you apply for visitor record and that’s approved.
Another thing is that multiple entry visa does not mean a 10-year visa. The visa will be valid for one month less than the validity of your passport. That means even if you apply with a freshly renewed passport, you won't get 10 years, as your application will take some time to be processed, plus a month less period.
That means,"10 years visitor visa" cannot be obtained in real world. I hope you understand that while there is reason to be happy about getting a "10-year visa", there is nothing to get too excited about.
