Applying for reconsideration of a Canada visa application ( study permit, visitor visa, work permit or PR applications) is a process that allows you to request a review of a decision if your visa application has been denied or refused by an IRCC officer. It comes with No fees or cost attached and is applied when an applicant is sure that the Visa officer has made an error in making a decision as against the application submitted. The reconsideration Request is made by a Webform. The visa officer reviewing your reconsideration file has the discretion in deciding the status of the submission.

Here are some steps to file for reassessment or reconsideration after the visa denial:

·        Before proceeding with reconsideration, consider whether you have a strong case for a successful reconsideration.

·        Follow the instructions on the refusal letter before applying for reconsideration.

·        Gather the submitted documents and review the visa refusal letter with the help of an ATIP/GCMS notes.

·        Depending on the reasons for refusal, write a letter of explanation that addresses the concerns raised in the refusal letter. You may need to provide additional documents or evidence to support your case. Make sure to include any documents that address the concerns outlined in the refusal letter, the errors that needs visa officer’s attention to make an apt decision. Also Indicate the desired outcome from the reconsideration.

·        Most importantly be clear, concise, honest, courteous, and respectful while making a reconsideration request.

·        The processing time for reconsideration requests can vary, but you should receive a response indicating whether your request has been approved or denied.
