Ontario is home to many temporary residents working on open work permits. Given the high minimum score requirements for federal pathways like the Canadian Experience Class, many are turning their attention to Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) streams. Here’s a simple guide to help you quickly determine the best pathway for you:

Check 1: Do You Have an Eligible Job Offer?

·       No Job Offer? Employer Job Offer streams are not an option.

·       Job Offer, but Employer Doesn't Qualify? If you have a job offer but your employer doesn’t meet the eligibility requirements (e.g., less than $1,000,000 annual revenue in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), or less than $500,000 outside the GTA), then the Employer Job Offer streams are not an option either.

Check 2: Do You Meet the Work Experience or Education Criteria?

·       Lack of 1 Year Work Experience in NOC TEER 2 or 3 in Ontario? Ontario Express Entry Skilled Trades is not an option.

·       No Bachelor’s Degree or Required Work Experience? If you don't have a bachelor’s degree and at least one year of work experience in NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 in the last five years, Ontario Express Entry Human Capital Priorities is not an option.

Check 3: Do You Meet Language or Education Requirements?

If you're not proficient in French, or don't have a master’s or PhD from an Ontario university, and answered "No" to the previous checks, OINP may not be the right pathway for you. However, even if you are ineligible for OINP, you can still explore Federal Express Entry programs.
