A Super Visa is a type of Visitor visa that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit Canada for extended periods, up to 5 years without the need to renew their status. One of the key requirements for a Super Visa is the Minimum Necessary Income to demonstrate that the inviter or the host in Canada have adequate finances to support the visitor during their stay in Canada.

Minimum Necessary Income (MNI): The child or grandchild sponsoring the visitor must meet the Low-Income Cut-Off (LICO) threshold, which varies depending on the number of people in the household

The income thresholds as of June 2024 are:

Documents to be provided by the inviter/Sponsor to prove the above MNI:

Ø  Notice of Assessment (NOA) or T4/T1 for the most recent tax year.

Ø  Employment insurance stubs.

Ø  Employment letter including salary and date of hire.

Ø  Pay stubs.

Ø  Bank statements.

Ø  A written and signed promise of financial support for the visitor for the duration of their stay in Canada. The letter must include a list of the number of people in the household of the sponsor.
