When you are sponsoring your spouse or common law partner to Canada on a Family Sponsorship its essential to provide evidence of your relationship status in your application. IRCC wants to ensure the legitimacy of your relationship to prevent fraud. Here are some tips and documents that you can submit to support your Spousal Sponsorship Application:

·        Official marriage certificate: issued by the relevant government authority. Make sure it is in English or French. If it's in another language, provide a certified translation.

·        Photographs of significant events in your relationship and family gatherings.

·        Communication Evidence: Emails, Chat logs, letters, social media updates and communication between you and your spouse to demonstrate your relationship status.

·        Joint Finances: Shared Bank accounts, joint lease agreements, joint ownership of property etc.

·        Affidavits and sworn statements: from Family and friends who can attest to the genuineness of your relationship.

·        Travel History: Evidence of any travel you and your spouse have undertaken together. This can include boarding passes, hotel reservations, and travel itineraries.

·        Joint Responsibilities: Documents of shared utility bills, insurance policies or other jointly held obligations.

 Note: These documents must be clear, legible and translated to English or French if necessary.
