1. Check Your Eligibility
Before anything else, make sure you qualify under one of the Express Entry programs:
· Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
· Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
· Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
You can check using the Come to Canada tool.
2. Gather Required Documents
You’ll need the following to create your profile:
· Language test results (IELTS, CELPIP, or TEF/TCF) – valid for 2 years
· Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) required if your education is from outside Canada
· Passport or travel document
· NOC job code for your work experience
· Proof of funds (for FSWP and FSTP applicants unless you’re already in Canada with a job offer or a valid work permit)
Optional (but helps increase your CRS score):
- Provincial Nomination
- Canadian work or study experience
3. Create an IRCC Account
Go to the IRCC website and create a GCKey or use a Sign-In Partner to open your Express Entry profile.
4. Fill Out Your Express Entry Profile
Provide details about:
- Personal information
- Contact info
- Educational background
- Work experience
- Language test scores
- ECA results
- Job offers (if any)
- Provincial nominations (if any)
- Family information
Your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score will be calculated automatically based on this info.
5. Submit the Profile
Once your profile is complete and you meet the minimum criteria, you’ll be entered into the Express Entry pool of candidates.
You’ll stay in the pool for up to 12 months. If not invited within that time, you can resubmit a new profile.
6. Get an Invitation to Apply (ITA)
If your CRS score is high enough in one of the Express Entry draws, you’ll receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
7. Submit Your PR Application
You’ll have 60 days to submit your complete PR application, along with supporting documents (including police certificates, medical exam results, and proof of funds).
