If you are eligible for AIP, you can apply for a work permit under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations R204(c) – C18. This is an LMIA-exempt work permit pathway under the International Mobility Program (IMP).

In order to extend your work permit through AIP, you must have:

1.        Received an endorsement and a work permit support letter from one of the Atlantic provinces

2.        Have a job offer from an AIP designated employer

3.        Have language test results for English or French

4.        Have a Canadian education credential or an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for foreign education

5.        Have worked for at least 1560 hours over a period of 12 months

6.        Have an offer of employment number (LMIA exemption number) from your employer

o   Your employer has to submit your offer of employer in the Employer Portal and pay $230 compliance fee

 

Through the AIP program, you are eligible for an additional two-year work permit.
