Gaining permanent residency in Canada through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is an excellent opportunity for individuals already working in the province. If you have six months of work experience in Saskatchewan and a valid job offer, you may be eligible for a streamlined pathway to PR. But what are the exact steps, requirements, and process involved? Let’s break it down with an example.

Example:

Pooja Patel, a 28-year-old from India, moved to Canada to pursue a two-year diploma at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Ontario. After completing her studies, she obtained a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and started working as a Food Services Supervisor in Saskatchewan. Over the last 6 months, she has worked full-time (30+ hours per week) with the same employer.

Pooja enjoys life in Saskatchewan and wants to make it her permanent home. Her employer values her work and offers a permanent, full-time job but is not providing an LMIA or additional financial support, aside from issuing a Job Offer Letter.

Since Pooja Patel has six months of work experience in Saskatchewan and an employer who is willing to support her, she can apply under the Saskatchewan Experience: Skilled Worker with Existing Work Permit stream. Below is the detailed process:

Step 1: Check Eligibility

Before applying, ensure that Pooja meets the following criteria:

  • At least six months (she has one year) of full-time (minimum 30 hours/week) work experience in Saskatchewan with the same employer.
  • A permanent, full-time job offer from a Saskatchewan employer in an eligible occupation.
  • A valid work permit issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
  • A Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of at least 4 (some occupations may require a higher score).
  • Licensing if the job is in a regulated occupation.

Step 2: Gather Required Documents

Pooja needs to collect and prepare the following documents:

  • Identification & Status in Canada (Passport, Work Permit).
  • Job Offer Letter (Permanent, full-time position in an eligible occupation).
  • Employment Proof (Reference letters, pay stubs, and employer documents).
  • Language Test (IELTS/CELPIP with CLB 4+).
  • Educational Credentials (Diploma from an eligible DLI in Ontario).
  • SINP Work Experience Form (Employer must complete this).
  • Regulatory License (If applicable).

 Step 3: Employer’s Role & Required Documents

The employer must provide:

  • A Permanent Job Offer (on company letterhead, specifying duties, salary, and conditions).
  • A Job Approval Letter (JAL) from the Government of Saskatchewan (must be approved by SINP).
  • Proof of business registration and compliance with labor laws in Saskatchewan.
  • A completed SINP Employer Form (Employer Declaration Form, if required)

Step 4: Submit the Application to SINP

  • Pooja must create an account on the SINP Online Application Portal.
  • Fill out the online application and upload all required documents.
  • Pay the application fee (if required).
  • Submit the application and wait for processing.
  • Processing Time: 8-10 weeks (varies based on application volume).

 Step 5: SINP Nomination Decision

  • If approved, Pooja will receive a Provincial Nomination Certificate.
  • If more documents are needed, SINP may request additional information.
  • If refused, Pooja can reapply or appeal if eligible.

Step 6: Apply for Permanent Residence (PR) to IRCC

  • With SINP nomination, Pooja can submit her PR application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
  • IRCC processing time: 6-12 months.
  • Once PR is approved, Pooja becomes a permanent resident of Canada!

Conclusion: Why This Stream?

  • Faster Processing – Since Pooja is already in Saskatchewan and working, the SINP Experience class may have a quicker processing time than other streams.
  • No Points Grid Requirement – Unlike the International Skilled Worker category, this stream does not require a points-based assessment.
  • Job Security – As she already has a job in Saskatchewan, the likelihood of a successful nomination is high.
