1. Who can apply for a Super visa?
--Only parents and grandparents of Canadian Permanent Residents or Citizens can apply. Parents and grandparents of Temporary residents in Canada (Student / Worker / Visitor) cannot apply.
2. Can supervise be applied from within Canada?
--Not at all. Applicants must be applying from outside of Canada.
3. Is it possible to enter Canada with a visitor visa after applying for a super visa from outside Canada?
--Yes, it is possible to enter Canada after applying for a super visa from outside Canada if the previous visitor visa is valid. However, if the super visa application is approved and a passport submission request is received, the passport must be submitted from outside Canada. That is, the applicant must leave Canada.
4. Is medical exam mandatory for super visa application?
-- Yes, medical exam is mandatory to complete the application process.
5. Is Police clearance required for super visa?
-- No, generally police clearance is not required. However, if the applicant has any previous criminal history, IRCC usually requests for police clearance certificate and court order.
6. Do you have to pay a whole year's insurance premium for a super visa? Can this $$ be refunded if the visa is not issued?
--The applicant must have a one-year insurance contract, but it does not have to be paid full in advance for the whole year. Usually, the premium is paid for the first and last month and the contract states that the applicant will pay month-on-month from the 2nd month after landing in Canada. If the super visa application is rejected for any reason, the remaining $$ will be returned by the insurance company after deducting an admin fee of usually $30-$50.
7. If the biometric is given for the visit visa, do you have to give the biometric again for the super visa?
--No, if the previous biometric is valid at the time of Super visa application.
8. Both parents are alive but just one of them will apply. What total income/funds should be shown (include both of them or just one)?
--Suppose you have a total of 4 family members including children and your mother will apply alone. Then in this case income / funds for a total of 5 family members should be shown.
9. How many years of income/funds should be shown ?
--Just current / last year is fine, the more the merrier.
10. If one of the spouses is employed, but the parents of the other (unemployed one) apply, then who will give the invitation letter? The employed one or whose parents will come?
--- The income/funds to be looked at in the Super visa application is the total family income. So, it doesn't matter whether 1 person does the job or both. One can also do an online/offline business along with the job. All together IRCC is looking for the total family income. So, the one whose parents apply will give the invitation letter, the other can be a co-signer regardless their employment status.
Note: None of the above answers are legal advice and are not meant to be the same for everyone. You must check the latest policy from the IRCC website before applying. Everything is stated clearly on the official website, still if you don't understand something, you can seek legal advice.
