Please note that the requirements and guidelines of the program can change at any time. Therefore, before acting upon this article, please do your homework from the IRCC website and the instructions shared in your email/account by IRCC to submit the final application. However, I have not seen any drastic change over the last couple of years, not at least from 2018-2023. 

In this article, I will try to share some of my general tips and document list to help you prepare for the final submission as error free as possible. 

General instruction for document submission:

  •        Only PDF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, DOC, and DOCX formats are accepted.
  •        Uploaded documents and forms cannot exceed 4 megabytes.
  •       Notarization required if the docs are not in English / French.  

 

Required forms by SPONSOR

  •         Upload Document Checklist – IMM 5771
  •         Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking (IMM 1344)
  •         Financial Evaluation for Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship (IMM 5768)

Required forms by PRINCIPAL APPLICANT

  •        Generic Application Form for Canada (IMM 0008)
  •         Additional Family Information (IMM 5406) * .
  •        Schedule A - Background/Declaration (IMM 5669) *.
  •        Supplementary Information – Your Travels (IMM 5662) *.  (this form is available on online only, so, cannot attach as an attachment)
  •       Use of Representative (IMM 5476)

* The principal applicant must complete this form online for themselves and on behalf of all their dependants who are 18 years of age and older (whether accompanying or not) who are not already Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

 

Supporting Documents – SPONSOR 

  •        Parents and Grandparents Invitation to Apply Letter. This is the one you received in the email in the PDF form.
  •        Canadian passport (pages showing passport number, date of issue and expiration, photo, name, surname, place and date of birth of holder)
  •         Proof of sponsor’s relationship to principal applicant. Need Birth certificate of both the sponsor and the principal applicant.

              

Supporting Documents - PRINCIPAL APPLICANT

  •         Passport of the principal applicant.
  •         Marriage certificate / death certificate of the spouse (as applicable).
  •        Curriculum Vitae (CV)/Resume: Please ensure CV/Resume include information since the age of 18 and details of the employment and volunteer positions held.
  •         Upload one (1) recent photo of the principal applicant according to Canada visa specifications.  
  •       Application processing fee. 
  •        Biometric validity confirmation (if the applicant has the biometric valid).

 

IMPORTANT:

·        Do not include a police certificate during the final submission**.

·        Do not complete a medical examination during the final submission**.

**The processing office will request police certificates and medical exam report from the principal applicant at an appropriate point in processing.
