You may to need to take study break due to various reasons but according to IRCC’s official website only the below reasons will be considered as authorized leave from your studies. I am attaching the screenshot direct from the IRCC’s website so that you take no second guess on this article.

From the above excerpt, it is very clear that changing DLI / school / program falls under the authorized leave so long it’s no more than 150 days. However, it’s very important to note the following: 

You can’t work on or off campus during an authorized leave from your study program, even if your study permit says you’re allowed to work in Canada.

If you change your DLI / post-secondary school, then you must inform IRCC about the change. Please don’t just change and sit back without informing IRCC, the evidence of this statement is below:
