The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) has specific language requirements, requiring applicants to show proficiency in either English or French. The minimum language level varies based on the type of job they held in Canada.
- You must take an authorized English or French language test to establish your language skills to be eligible.
- You must get a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in English or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) 7 in French if your skilled work experience in Canada is classified as TEER 0 or 1 (formerly NOC 0 or A).
- A minimum CLB 5 in English or NCLC 5 in French is required for jobs under TEER 2 or 3 (previously NOC B).
- Reading, writing, speaking, and listening are the four language abilities for which you must receive the necessary scores on your test.
- Candidates must take a specific language exam, such as the TEF (French) or IELTS (English), to confirm their ability.
- Your valid language test results must be included in your Canadian Experience Class (CEC) application to meet eligibility requirements.
Note: None of the above statements are legal advice and are not meant to be the same for everyone. You must check the latest policy from the IRCC website before applying. Although everything is clearly stated on the official website, you may want to seek legal advice if you have any questions or concerns.
